About The Artists

Laura Wills

Based in Tarntanya Adelaide on Kaurna land, Laura works with an expanded approach to her practice. She often collaborates with other artists in the creation of site responsive and participatory works. Primarily working across the discipline of drawing in various contexts such as pastel and digital drawing into maps, drawing across installation and projected light drawing. Laura is interested in creating works that are communicative in nature and connect us to the environment. Themes Laura explores in her work include investigations of mapping, shelter, the environment, botanical relationships and food security issues. She is currently working from Central Studios in Kent Town, and is half of Wills Projects with her partner Will Cheesman. Laura is also part of Plant Notes – a platform for sharing practice with the more than human world, motivating action to explore and advocate for ecosystems.

Toni Hassan

Toni Hassan is an interdisciplinary visual and social practice artist and award-winning writer of South African ancestry. Toni is a graduate of the ANU School of Art and Design. She is interested in art as a window to notice the world and make sense of personal and collective experiences and histories. In her drawing, painting, digital and installation work she investigates power relations, culture (myth, contemporary events, ritual and patterns of human relating) and nature (non-human centric perspectives, aiming to see connections). Her artwork is held in public and private collections and has been in major group prizes including the Fisher’s Ghost Art Prize as a consecutive-year finalist.
