The FOREVER Book accompanies MOD.’s 2025 exhibition by the same name and explores multiple perceptions of time to expand our thinking about the future.
The Book is a collection of essays, insights, mementos, poetry and activities that allow readers to broaden their understanding of the relationships between past, present and future. Lisa Bailey and Claudia von der Borch from the exhibition design team recount how the themes, concepts and content for the exhibitions were created, taking readers along for the decision-making journey, from the initial future-themes forum back in 2021, to recounting key conversations with artist, practitioners and researchers whose ideas and practices had impacts on the direction of what is now in the galleries.
Throughout 2023 and 2024 MOD. hosted a number of Futurists-in-residence who worked with the exhibition team to embed futures thinking skills, perspectives and principles into the exhibition, many of which have provided essays filled with emerging insights, futures-thinking skills and perspectives inspired by the themes of FOREVER to the book. Furthermore Futurist and Founding Director of MOD., Kristin Alford, has contributed a series of mementos, poems and reflective exercises that give insight into futures thinking techniques and an opportunity to practice these thinking skills yourself. Embedded throughout are beautiful photographs of FOREVER by Sia Duff, allowing the book to serve as a documentation of your visit to MOD.
Like FOREVER the book invites you to explore the blurry boundaries of time, meaning, and memory, as shaped by the thoughts and experiences of the MOD. Exhibitions Team and Futurists-in-Residence acting as both a guide to and reflection on FOREVER.
The FOREVER book is available for purchase in-person at MOD.
