BEGINNINGS Mini Descriptive Tour

So, what is BEGINNINGS?
Let’s take you on a very quick tour of the exhibition galleries!

A dark room, with a floor projection of blue swirls. Stone spheres sit illuminated around the projection. Text on wall reads 'What is a beginning?'

Wellsprings | Perspective

Start by entering through a cave-like entranceway to find a place of storytelling. Take a moment to pause and listen while pondering what “beginning” means to you.

A person looks a a long narrow screen on a corridor wall. The screen has a purple Australian landscape on it.

Seasons – Kuri Kurru | Deep Listening

Listening is not just for our ears. When we observe our environment deeply, what can we learn? Explore the current Kaurna season with our only permanent exhibit, presented on an interactive touchscreen wall.

A person stands infront of a large screen with their hand outstretched to touch. The screen shows a small animated creature.

Folk Island | Continuity

It can be hard to think beyond the present. We have the past to look back on, but what will we pass on to future generations? Play the game to see how genetics, environmental factors, and our choices help form who we are.

A person operates the prompt kiosk

MiNi | Creativity

Get ready to get a bit creative in the MiNi sonic studio. Select a prompt to get inspired, then create a new sound piece with four instrumental structures. Don’t worry if it doesn’t immediately make sense, we are here to try something new.

Hanging Wheat | Cultivation

If you look up, you may notice a large chandelier-like sculptural installation suspended above the foyer. You have probably never seen wheat look this good before, it is wise to head to level 1 for a closer look.

A group of people inside a supermarket like shop.

The Convenient Store | Agency

Is this an actual shop? No. But many have been fooled! Welcome to the Convenient Store, where we consider the value of our decisions as consumers.

A large cubic creature made of lights, solar panels and industrial items looms at the camera with controls connecting to its body.

The Beast | Transformation

This imposing mechanical-looking creature is known as The Beast, but what does it feed on? Try to find the right balance of energy by adjusting the levers for Coal, Gas, Solar, and Wind power.

A retro looking computer with a game controls instead of a keyboard sits on a table for the 'risk manager' worker.

MOD. Crisis Control | Preparedness

Uh Oh! The intern was only trying to help when they created the artificial intelligence PUDDING! Now it has gone rogue and we need your help in the Crisis Control Centre to keep MOD. safe – spoiler: you will need a stronger password.

A silhouetted person stands in front of a screen with their arm outstretched.

Transformative Repair | Resilience

Damaged goods? Or an opportunity to weave more value into our possessions? Marvel at a cabinet of transformative repair pieces and watch them change through an interactive projection work.

A long shot of a gallery space showing a celestial ceiling projection.

Celestial Navigation | Foresight

Here is our final space, a starfield of possibilities. Find out what your MOD. futures thinking archetype is and reflect on navigating the future one step at a time.

Come and explore the exhibition yourself, Tues – Sat, 10am – 5pm.
