Work Experience 2026

In June 2026, the MOD. team welcomed 7 high school students for a work experience placement ranging between three and five days. The year 10 and 11 students were from a variety of high schools across Adelaide and regional South Australia, with one student participating online.

Work experience at MOD. introduces students to a professional, university aligned workplace. It also offers an opportunity to peek behind the curtain and see how a future-focused museum operates. The students joined the MOD. team for a variety of activities including – exhibition design workshops and progress meetings, user testing, prototyping, marketing strategies and content creation, and shadowing the amazing Moderators on the museum floor.

Throughout their time with MOD. the students were encouraged to create a zine to reflect on their experience, you can enjoy some images from those zines below, along with other activity outcomes and testimonials.

“I really enjoyed my time with the team and appreciated how welcoming everyone was. I enjoyed learning about how exhibitions are created, talking to different people about their careers, and seeing the behind-the-scenes work that goes into running MOD. Thank you for making the experience enjoyable and insightful.” – Clayton

“During my placement I learnt a great deal about the tasks and activities involved in working in an organisation like MOD. I greatly enjoyed my time there and from this I have learnt a lot about myself and what I would like to pursue. I am using this information gathered and reviewing my experiences to make decisions about my future career paths. Thank you once again for allowing me to spend time with you learning about this career and work environment.” – Evelyn
