Looking for inspiring and interactive things to do in Adelaide? Visit MOD.

People looking for inspiring and interactive things to do in Adelaide visit MOD.  We’ve now had 110,000 visits since we opened last year. What do we know about our visitors?

From the visitor surveys:

Almost 20% of our visitors come from interstate or overseas. 15% come from regional areas of South Australia and the rest from metropolitan Adelaide.

School Visits

Visits from schools and tertiary institutions reflect the range of our visitors. In the last six months, we’ve hosted students from 45 schools across South Australia, from as far away as Wudinna Area School on the Eyre Peninsula, Mid-North Christina School, Yorketown Area School and Meningie Area School near the Coorong.

Our nearest students visit from Adelaide High School, Youth Inc on Hindley St and Adelaide Botanic High School. Across the metropolitan area, we have hosted schools from Gawler District College and Trinity College in the northern suburbs to Wirreanda Secondary School, Cardijn College and Aldinga Beach B-7 School in the south.

Some of these schools participated in workshops as part of the Aboriginal STEM Congress. Others participated in a forum we ran to inform future exhibition themes. Most of our schools come to visit MOD. for an hour or so to explore the exhibits. They come in either on their own or book one of our friendly and knowledgeable moderators for more in-depth explanation on a tour. Schools are welcome to bring classes and we have information to help book visits and tours.

Accessible and Inclusive

Participation from this broad range of students is important to us. One of our design principles is to be accessible and inclusive. This is critical so that we can ensure more young people from diverse backgrounds are inspired by science and innovation and have the opportunity to benefit from technology-orientated careers in the future.

Of course, you don’t have to wait for your school to visit. Looking for inspiring and interactive things to do in Adelaide?
